Mahmood Mazhar, the owner of Yorkshire based business telecoms supplier Core Telecom, has recently funded the donation of an iconic ‘Sunshine Coach’ to The Forest School in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. The Coach has been provided to the School through Variety, The Childrens Charity.
The Forest School is a fantastic organisation with 108 children in their care. The school caters for pupils with moderate to severe learning difficulties, Autism, Epilepsy, communication difficulties and other complex medical conditions. They pride themselves on providing a safe, engaging place to learn and this nurturing environment ensure s that each and every child can reach their full potential.
The Sunshine Coach is a 17 seat mini bus, fully equipped with a tail lift to allow for wheelchair access. The previous Sunshine Coach awarded to the school has been used so extensively it’s vital it is now replaced. The Coach will be utilised to provide invaluable experiences such as Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and training visits, sporting events such as canoeing, sailing and swimming lessons along with residential visits to outdoor activity centres.
Headteacher at the school, Peter Hewitt, thanked The Variety Club and Core Telecom for their fabulous support and explained how the bus would benefit the learning opportunities the pupils could experience and the type of activities that pupils regularly participate in.
Peter Hewitt said:
“Those visits would not happen without us having our own specialist transport. The students go to various and wide ranging activities during the school day, after school, and during the school holidays. It is vital that our children have ‘real-life’ learning experiences.”
Mr Mazhar has a proud history of working with charities both in Yorkshire and across the UK. He has provided both financial and strategic support to a host of charities including The Disabilities Trust, Dreams & Wishes, Beth’s Angels and The Yorkshire Air Ambulance. This is coupled with hosting a string of charity events at Norman Bar in Leeds City Centre.
Core Telecom is also continually reaching out to provide charities with services to improve their telecom infrastructure and have now built many successful charity partnerships.
Upon the donation of the Sunshine Coach Mr Mazhar commented:
“I’m delighted to have been able to work with both Variety, the Children’s Charity and The Forest School to provide such a valuable service. I thoroughly look forward to our support benefiting both the students and staff.
“I’m passionate about making a difference to inspirational organisations and improving the lives of individuals who rely on them.”
